Photo: Dale cuts the tree while McKayla (Heather's sister), Hayley, Hannah, and Hayden look on.

The first week, Hayden went to the harvest party at the school and fractured her ankle bone in the bouncy house. She had 2 weeks on crutches. I found out that the pneumonia still had not been cleared up, so I was put on one more round of antibiotics. All of the girls had school conferences and had met their goals. Hayley made it on the honor roll and Hannah was doing great with her speech classes and Hayden was on track in her class. Hayley turned 12. She celebrated with a sleepover and a shopping trip to the mall with some friends. They all had a blast. Dale and I stayed over at Grandma's the day before Thanksgiving. She taught me how to make pie from scratch, so we made pumpkin and lemon mirangue. It was fun. All the girls helped out. We got up early and made the stuffing. It is a family recipe from the Azores Islands in Portugal. McKayla, my sister, stayed with us a few days. She lives in Portland in a foster home. We went to the Santa Parade and Tree Lighting and Carolling ceremony. We got our tree for $10 at a u-cut tree farmnear Dayton. The girls were so excited. You can check out last years blog about our free tree. It was a lot of fun. We then came home and decorated. We let McKayla put the Angel on the tree and she was delighted. The weekend ended with us taking McKayla home. The girls were sad.
