2012 Cracked Open (Exposing the inside details)

·         New Year.  New Chapter.  Life without Grandma.

December 2011 was a rough month for us.  Grandma passed the same day Hannah was baptized.  A week later, her congregation held a service.  The Collver’s were the only family in attendance.  That same night, we had a Christmas Party at the church for the youth group.  A week later, we were with family celebrating birthdays and babies.  Christmas came and went and we found ourselves immersed in happy memories with family.  To break up the meetings and doings, we spent a day at the Evergreen Water Park.  It was really fun.  Doing the best we could to all be in one place at one time, we watched as Grandma’s generous friend released her ashes from his plane over the beaches of Depoe Bay.  Then we gathered for a service to honor a woman who gave so much.  Returning home, we were reminded how great our friends are, a pot of hot stew and rolls had been prepared so we could stop doing.  In a whirlwind our family was gone and we were left to sort the life that had ended too soon.   Instead of spreading the work out over a few months, Heather took advantage of being laid off and put together an Estate Sale, packed up, cleaned up and prepared the house for sale by the end of January.  Much to our surprise, within a few days of the house being on the market, there were offers and the house sold.  The transition back home was not as easy.  After two years of focusing on grandma’s health, Heather found it really hard to focus, and even harder to connect with being a full time mom, wife and friend again.  It was a blessing to participate in the birth of Alexis, our niece.  Things are slowly coming together.
