As Hayley approached her 15^th birthday it became clear that we were going to expect more from her in regards to accountability and responsibility.  While she was super stoked to go in and get her driver’s permit for her 15^th birthday, we have decided she could’ve been more responsible, should’ve taken us seriously and would’ve had the opportunity if she didn’t make some of the choices she made during the Fall.  So despite her frustrations, we decided to have a low key birthday party for her this year.   With only a few people over for cake and ice cream, we learned together as a family that lessons are sometime learned the hard way.  But we also learned that sometimes a small gathering makes for amazing memories.  I want to encourage all you parents out there… they want us to stick to our word, no matter how hard it is on us to want to bless them and give them everything… they need us to set boundaries and keep them on track and lovingly guide them back in the right direction.
